Unable to begin in July as previously planned, the National Congress and Convention Center (CNCC) will start its construction in late September.
The CNCC will be built within 24 acres (10 hectares) and consists of 167,917 square feet (15,600 square meters) very close to the airport, and to the main corporate areas of the city, in Barreal de Heredia.
The construction is waiting for the approval of the Association of Engineers and Architects, according to the Costa Rica Tourism Institute officers.
According to Mauricio Ventura, the Tourism Minister, the new CNCC will cost a total of $31 million that are coming from ICT, $23 million, and the rest from a bank loan, costing a total of $31 million.
According to the National Tourism Chamber (Canatur) President, Pablo Heriberto Abarca, there are no delays, as Costa Rica has never been closer to start the Convention Center, having waited for ten years already for its construction.
